Sixth Month Pregnancy: In the sixth month of pregnancy, your baby continues to move within all the amniotic fluid. He or she is growing Lanugo which is a layer of hair all over with other developments of eyebrows, brown fat in the skin which keeps the baby warm.
The baby’s skin at this point is reddish, wrinkled and shows veins on the surface and has a waxy covering on it called Vernix which helps the skin from exposure to amniotic fluid.
Also, the baby muscles are growing stronger and you will be able to understand through the movement as the baby becomes more active. The baby feeds on the amniotic fluid; he/she is swallowing it all the time.
Meconium which is the baby’s first stool is soon going to form in the intestines. The toes and fingers have fully formed and the eyelids are opening. The lungs of the baby are forming and are only half-developed yet.
Sixth Month Pregnancy – What to expect & symptoms
- Your abdomen is bound to itch due to the stretching of the skin as your baby grows bigger. Use body lotion and rub it into your skin after bath or when you feel your skin is too dry.
- Stretch marks are the result of your abdomen skin stretching to accommodate your baby. From the very begin keep your skin moisturized. This is something that you may not be able to control. Some women get away with a few stretch marks the others may not be so lucky.
- Numbness in limbs & cramps are also symptoms you might experience during pregnancy.
